Connecting community...
The Mid North Neighborhoods of Indianpolis -- Crown Hill, Highland Vicinity, Mapleton-Fall Creek, Historic Meridian Park, Meridian Highland, and Watson-McCord -- have embarked on a Quality of Life plan. The website, based on WordPress, allows for many hands to create content and add material of value. This will be significantly revised to support the post-Summit planning process.
For this year's tour, the web task force emphasized user-friendliness and clarity in design of the website. The new design drew potential visitors and oriented them to the tour. Great homes, beautiful weather, and the redesigned website helped bring the attendance to the 2nd highest - exceeded only by the inaugural year of the tour. Careful recording and analysis of the 1,700 visits to the site will provide valuable information for next year's update.
The committee chose an ambitious plan for the reunion - a full weekend of activities. The website was designed to convey the many opportunities for classmates to gather and reconnect as well as the best way to plan and register. Over 80% of the members of the class who were informed did attend one or more events. After the reunion, the site was redesigned to reflect a blog style for on-going class information.
The Historic Urban Neighborhoods of Indianapolis site was initially designed for a single purpose - soliciting entries for the logo contest. The group has had a low profile in the wider community, while serving an essential role for decades in helping local historic neighborhoods seeking designation, celebrating their heritage, and interpreting legislation related. Currently, neighborhoods are drawing up their profiles for inclusion on the site, and the new logo will inform its design.
